LITTLE CROW CRITIQUE (He loved our showJJJ)I
asked Kevin to do this for us so here it is.
1. Really nice act. BFP run all the way through the course or past the
stage. You will score a lot higher. I would ski all the way past the dock so
the crowd doesn’t have to watch people swim in or if you want presentation have
comedy start so the crowd doesn’t sit there and watch everyone swim in. last
person swimming in looked like they couldn’t swim, not very professional
2. Good act but shoe ski was way too far away. Tighten pattern up. Boat
drivers where way too far away from shore. Deep water your tumble turns so
they don’t have to use skis?
3.Good pyramid pattern but boat driver turned left on dock start. Good
landing. Is there any way you could have boat driver stay show right after
act? Maybe pull next jump set
4.Jump set needs to have more skiers, add a criss-cross and a split???
5. Ballet line the dock start had good momentum but angled left which makes
start hard(good job girls) . Good pattern but needs to be circle so skiers
don’t get whip. Girl let go on second loop. If it is supposed to be braced then
you shouldn’t have this happen. Is there any way you can have them do the butt
hold un-braced/improves score a lot. Don’t go outside the wake on the
landing!!! Sloppy announcing on individual names and you need to be more
organized when they go to pick up skis. Maybe 3 steps back with face to the
crowd before picking up skis. TRY TO HAVE SOMEONE THE WHOLE SHOW STAGE R AND
STAGE L TO PICK UP SKIS, IT LOOKS MORE PROFESSIONAL
6.Barefoot line had rough water/nice dance. Need to work on smiles and
showmanship
You should have comedy after ballet line you need calmer water!!
7.Good attempt on tandem. Need to have calmer water boat pattern??
8.Pre-built you need to have boat square up so you can get leaders feeding out
straight. Have boat driver practice sitting there while dock help pulls on
leaders. boat driver really idled out to his left and as a result left pyramid
left dock early. Climbers did not keep legs locked and shore side skier
buckled. If you make those pyramids you should convert to something. Liked the
presentations
9.Nice back ATB(spotter shouldn’t stand) nice forward ATB. Don’t know why
skier fell. Presentation needs to be center stage everyone went left of center
10.Nice four boat pattern, liked spacing. Presentations for conventional was
sloppy
11.Jumping was great but tighten up the pattern so you have better flow. Why
can’t jumper put ski on faster after fall?
12.Barefooting was good but why don’t you have a back up boat? Announcer said
look to your right when first act came from the left?? Todd you had a ghost
boat taking you back. You should ski back if you can make that pattern work.
13.Angled pull on pyramid, nice pattern. You need longer leaders for that
final.
Clean up boat presentations, make them faster
Great overall show. You guys have really improved.
I like the flow and the energy and I like the organized presentations.
If you want to be the best, you have to work on box scores and the overall
numbers of people skiing. example 2 tumble turns, three on dock starts, criss
cross single heli and add a fifth boat for more passes.
Dock and Equipment
More equipment helps box scores and presentation of team – more props/bigger
back drop/bring a floater and use it/ need more boats to put more people on the
water without delay. judges love 5 boat patterns/ example: just the looks of a
triple rig is cool let alone the benefit of having one.
Sound Crew
I liked your Announcer. He was good but should build more difficulty on skiing
using voice inflection. He should try not to scream when excited, let sound
person help him get louder if need be. You could turn down his highs if he
continues to do that. Another thing he could work on is changing pace to add
excitement, start slow and get faster. He was fast almost the whole time. Hard
to understand when talking to fast. He should try to look at the crowd more and
try not to have his back facing the judges as much. He had good stage presence
and good voice.
Comedy needs to be done in places that keeps crowd from watching background
stuff. Example. if people are swimming in show r have the comedy on show L
side of stage. Make your comedy more hickish to embrace your prairie theme:
more props and hick stuff to show the audience
Sound needs to have more music in-between acts. Look at
movie sound tracks to tie in act, theme or comedy. example. crickets
when night seen or quiet, western song when talking Midwest or comedy has intro
songs to change your mood.
To help your announcer you can change the music to the next act when you see
boat idle out or coming toward show course. That way he doesn’t have to look
over to see them coming. He should have one sentence intros ready for every act
so he never looks like he is caught off guard. He should look like he knows
when everything is coming even though that is almost impossible with a show that
is never the same because there are so many variables.
